Reason aluminum splashes during Aluminum Vacuum evaporation

发布时间:2019/05/19 丨 文章来源:未知 丨 浏览次数:

What is the origin of aluminum splashes during Aluminum Vacuum evaporation?

I’m getting aluminum splashes during aluminum evaporation process, i use tungsten fillaments for evaporation and a voltage of 7V, ramp of 1 sec. without any preheating, i have 4 machines and only one of them are in this condition, I also use an evaporation bench with 18 tungsten fillaments in each machine.

A: That sounds to me as if you are heating the aluminum too quickly in the one machine. This usually makes the evaporant "burst" like a waterballoon. Maybe you try a way slower ramp and see if that helps. If the other machines work fine with the same conditions maybe there is a problem with the electrical contacts or something similar which makes the temperature jump quickly when the current starts flowing.
The leftover "aluminum" in the crucible after evaporation is usually the aluminum oxide which forms naturally on the surface in air and only evaporates at 2050+ °C.
